Rewinding back to October 2020: the world was still adjusting to a “new normal.” Alyssa and Joey were both working and living at home—nothing too wild, especially considering, you know, the global pandemic an all.

So, what were two single people to do?

Enter: Tinder.

A few swipes and some playful banter later, their story officially began. It all started with a message from Joey: “I can go for a White Claw or two right now, how’s your Thursday going?” And just like that, the spark was lit. The very next day, Alyssa and Joey met for their first date at Stage House in Mountainside.

Joey still jokes that Alyssa talked a little too much that night—but given how things turned out, he must have loved every minute of it. From that first date on, they became inseparable.

Their early days together were filled with hiking adventures, dinners out, and cozy movie nights at Alyssa’s apartment. Then came their first Christmas. Ever the practical one, Alyssa gifted Joey socks and underwear. Joey, on the other hand, went all out with a wine fridge for Alyssa’s place—setting the gift-giving bar just a bit high. Alyssa was equal parts touched and mildly embarrassed.

As time passed, their adventures grew—ski trips, tropical getaways, and spontaneous day trips exploring arboretums. When Joey’s house was finally finished, Alyssa moved in—and brought the place to life. Joey often teases that “she came with the house,” but in truth, it wouldn't have felt like home without her.

Before they became fiancé and fiancée, they were already partners in pet parenting. First came PB, their beloved bunny, and later, Rhodie—their tiny but mighty mini dachshund who quickly became the center of their world.

Now, 4.5 years later, they’ve shared laughter, faced challenges, and created countless memories. Through every high and low, they’ve stood side by side, proving time and time again that they’re each other’s person. It’s been an incredible journey—and the best part? It’s only just beginning.
